Sunday 5th of October saw an August gathering of foodies and food vendors all in one spot! It was a beehive of eating, drinking, buying, selling , chatting , reunion of old friends at the Tasteoff Lagos 2014 edition. I was invited by a friend and fellow blogger Yemisi of Misykona.com I featured her on the blog a few months ago in my blog writing process tour. Imagine a makeup artist inviting a food blogger for a food festival, Lol! She got a two VIP tickets and was giving one away when I luckily grabbed it! 🙂 . As a foodie she keeps tab of such event, you bet she’s now my new bff!
When I first heard taste off Lagos, I thought it had to do with local indigenous dishes, but it turns out the idea is to show case different restaurants and confectioners in Lagos hence the name Tasteoff Lagos. Definitely a nice idea because after the event, you will most likely go looking for the places where delicious meals are sold.
The maiden edition of the Tasteoff was in 2011 but this was my first time of attending, I finally got to taste some foods you only see on food network and in pictures, some I enjoyed others not so much. However I had a nice time all in all, I met some fun people with very innovative products, met a home chef I had once seen on Bella Naija…ok ok…let me show you the pictures, enough talking!
Guests….
The Food meat…
Lots and lots of cake!
Decadent cakes….
A generous dose of liquor.
Frozen desserts.
This, I thoroughly enjoyed!
The making of my tortilla…
Final product…
When I started eating it….
Salad platter..
Entertainment…
Chef Uzo in the kitchen..
I saw her on Bella Naija recently, was certainly an honour to meet her in person.
Bon a petit!
I had fun most with these guys…
They had a very innovative product, per-boiled, pre-seasoned rice that cooks in 15 minutes! 🙂
They also make Wilson’s Lemonade which can be drank as in or made into a cocktail. When served chilled, the lemonade was very refreshing and it comes in natural lemonade:
And in pink flavour made from…Zobo! Amazing huh?
Easy meals crew were very generous and gave me free samples for a blog review, I will cook it, eat it then tell you how it tastes 😀 .
Products review will be coming soon.
So all in all, it was a fun day out. Looking forward to next year’s edition!
Till my next post,
Azu 🙂 .
