Getting ready for the weekend I’m sure. Here’s something to help you rest.
As we all know, Ugu (pumpkin leaves) are high in folate and anti – aging properties, avocado in addition to anti-aging properties, lowers cholesterol levels, promotes eye and heart health as well as helps the skin glow. Pineapple popularly known for its vitamin C content also helps in strengthening gums, bones and wards off colds.
Bananas as we know is high in potassium and induces sleep, which is where I’m going. Relax with this smoothie this weekend and enjoy restful sleeps.
A smoothie you will drink over and over after the first sip!
Enjoy 🙂 .
Ingredients : (serves 2)
6 fresh ugu (pumpkin leaves )
1 ripe medium avocado
1 large banana(2 small ones)
2 half inch slices of pineapple
Peel pineapple slices and cube removing the core, don’t add it to the smoothie so it’s not stringy. You want the smoothie….smooth and creamy.
When you peel the banana, squeeze half a lime all over it. This helps slow down oxidization (browning) so your smoothie stays green and fresh looking.
Remove ugu stalk completely, down to its stalk to allow for easy blending.
Soak the ugu in salt water for a few minutes, wash and rinse thoroughly to get rid of sand.
In a blender/smoothie maker, combine pineapple and ugu leaves first, blend until smooth. Add the avocado and banana, blend for another 3 minutes or until smooth.
Serve immediately if you used ice, otherwise chill for 1 hour.
